In order for me to fully explain the game of Baseball we need to start with the history. Then we will cover the Rules, Divisions, and Teams. The history of baseball dates back to the mid-1800s in the United States. The game was originally played with different rules and was known as “town ball” or “rounders.” In 1845, Alexander Cartwright and the Knickerbocker Baseball Club developed the first set of rules for baseball, which included the diamond-shaped field, nine players per team, and the concept of three outs per inning. Over time, baseball became a popular sport in America and spread to other countries. The first professional baseball league was established in 1876, and the World Series, a championship series between the American League and National League, was first played in 1903.

Baseball at its simplest

Baseball is a sport played between two teams of nine players each. The goal of the game is to score more runs than the opposing team. The game is played on a diamond-shaped field with four bases: first, second, third, and home plate. The game is played in nine innings, with each team taking turns to bat and field.

The Rules Of The Game Of Baseball

The rules of baseball are relatively simple. Each team takes turns batting and fielding. The batting team tries to hit the ball thrown by the pitcher and score runs by running around the bases. The fielding team tries to catch the ball and get the batter out, or prevent runners from advancing around the bases. A run is scored when a player touches all four bases and crosses home plate. When a batter hits the ball out of the field of play, it is a home run, and the batter and any runners on base can score. Furthermore if a fielder catches the ball before it touches the ground, the batter is out. If a fielder tags a runner with the ball before the runner reaches a base, the runner is out.

The game of baseball has evolved over time, with new rules and innovations introduced to improve the game. Such as the new 15 second pitching and batting rule. However, the basic concept of hitting a ball, running around the bases, and scoring runs remains the same. Today, the game of baseball is a popular sport played at all levels, from Little League to the Major Leagues, and is enjoyed by millions of fans around the world.

MLB Divisions

Major League Baseball (MLB) is divided into two leagues: the American League (AL) and the National League (NL). Each league is further divided into three divisions: East, Central, and West.

Each team plays a total of 162 games throughout the regular season, with a majority of those games being played against teams in their own division. The division winners and two wild card teams (the two teams with the best records who did not win their division) from each league advance to the postseason, where they compete in a series of playoff rounds culminating in the World Series championship.
