Cards & Box Breaks Explained

Cards & Box Breaks are not very complicated. But they do come with repercussions. Like one great man once said no risk no reward. I think the best way to explain cards and box breaks is to break it down in sections so let’s start here.

What is a break?

a break is basically buying part of a box, a set or a complete case of trading cards or collectibles that are unopened. Each person taking part in the break buys a piece of whatever products are stated in the break. Some breakers will give the option to auction off a certain team, player, divisions or entire boxes.

what is a breaker?

a breaker is the person that has pre-purchased the products for the break. This person will record themselves opening the product that you have bought a spot in the break. I cannot stress enough that you should do your research on which breakers you use and have trust in.

what is a spot in a card Break?

a spot is when the breaker makes a certain team division or box for purchase directly or auction. Some spots can even be auctioned off as randoms.

what is a random spot in a box break

depending on whether the breaker is auctioning off a random spot for a case, multiple boxes, or just one blaster. When they offer a random spot it means that you are purchasing one spot in the break. And that spot has no set assigned team division or player. Make sure that the breaker has explained completely what is entitled to this spot and how he will go about randomly selecting what you will receive.

what you should look for and stay away from

As I previously stated make sure that you have a relationship with your breaker. Do not randomly jump into a brake especially if the cost is high. Breaks do not come without horror stories in the hobby. Absolutely never buy into a break that you cannot watch live and see the cards the whole entire time. Make sure that you are purchasing in some way that you are protected. So that if there is any discrepancies during the break you can communicate with that breaker come to some type of settlement. And if worse comes to worse you can contact the actual platform or company that you use to purchase the brake from. An attempt to receive your money back.
